A bit about us - 5 Pac.

5 Pac was fomed in 2004 as a division of the North Down Group to supply fresh, nutritious, pre-packed fruit and vegetables in a range of convenient pack sizes to the retail sector.

The companies 2 brands, 100% PURE FIVE for Spar outlets and Pick ME for other retail groups and independents including Mace and Nisa form the core of our business.

The North Down Group is one of Northern Ireland’s leading fresh produce
companies. The fruit and vegetable and wholesale business first started in
Newtownards in 1989 with a second branch opening on Belfast’s Boucher Road in 1993.

North Down expanded into the food services sector and new premises were
acquired in 1996 at Kennedy Way in Belfast. The catering side of the ompany
continued to grow rapidly and a fine foods division was established.

Following centralisation of the company’s activities at Kennedy Way, a major
extension was completed in 2003 and during that year a substantial new
venture saw the launch of 5 Pac Ltd. This new subsidiary provides fresh produce solutions to the retail sector.

Currently the company employs over ninety staff and has a customer base in
the wholesale, retail and food service sectors across Northern Ireland.

The North Down Group had its origins in the wholesale trade and over the years has established strong relationships with the farming community in Northern Ireland. In addition to locally supplied produce, product is
also sourced from Great Britain, Holland, France Belgium and Spain. Today the marketplace is global and because of seasonality, fresh produce is ourced
worldwide.

The buying power of the North Down Group enables quality produce to be obtained at marketable prices, the emphasis, however, is always on quality.

North Down for many years has been the sole agent in Northern Ireland for the Cyprus Potato Marketing Board. The customer base for North Down wholesale has continued to grow and includes traditional greengrocers, small supermarkets, food processors and semi-wholesalers. The company has now started to expand this customer base into the Republic of Ireland with a number of key accounts coming on-board.

In the early years of North Down’s history, the company serviced the catering industry from its base in Newtownards. Business expanded over the years and a Fine Foods division was established in 1999. In addition to a core range of fruit and vegetables, an extensive product portfolio is now augmented with herbs and exotics as well as dairy, breads, pastas and sauces.

Customers province-wide such as schools, hospitals and restaurants are now provided with a “one-stop -shop” for all their catering needs. The telesales department within North Down has expanded and a new computer system has increased efficiency. To meet customers needs, the telesales team will
take orders from 9.00am to 12.00pm midnight, Monday to Friday and orders can be faxed or emailed.
